Unfortunately...VERY LOUD! If not loud, I don't have the harshness problem much at all. I think you've got my number...To answer, I own several mid-level things that I'd love to convert into one or two high-level systems, but anyway...
For this particular problematic system, my equipment is a Plinius 8150 integrated and Paradigm Studio 100s. I've tried un-biwiring the speakers, which helps somewhat, but...I was thinking that more power could help, but am very limited on $$$ and space. Heard anything re: McIntosh integrated??? 200W X 2...can't find any reviews yet...
From your moniker, I assume you're female? I am, and have read that a typical female's high frequency hearing is more defined than a typical male's. I don't know if this is true, but it would certainly explain why I'm having this trouble after following numerous suggestions from men as to how to erase the harshness! No offense, guys, but audio is definitely a male-dominated area...designed by and for male hearing, perhaps...??? The guy who sold me the Paradigms thinks they're too smooth and had me listen to B&Ws (I forget which model)...OUCH! Very detailed, but harsh...The worst for me so far: Thiel 2.3s. Incredibly bright, harsh, forward, etc.
I'd appreciate any ideas you might have. Thanks!
