Your amplification/speaker synergy is at best MORE IMPORTANT, and likely EQUALLY important to any source choice.
System synergy is always more important than the whatever DAC chips the manufacturer chooses. It's not the chip(s) themselves, - but what the manufacturer does with them.
The problem with people entering the realm of digital file playback, is that they are following the propaganda of a few manufacturers and become obsessed with certain design elements of DACs, - without understanding the importance of the basics, - (good power supplies, connectors, & quality of wiring & caps & resistors: plus a simple signal path). AND.... they're not comparing their digital file playback systems to CD players or turntables.
I see very few people performing good tests where they use CD players with digital inputs & compare directly the sound of their digital file transport, (computer), with spinning discs.
