I think many have had similar experiences.

It was a very happy day 25 years ago when I bought my last distorted, warped, horrid sounding LP. It was Pete Townshend's White City.

Clipping and compression and the loudness wars have nothing to do with the format. It is the tin eared punks in the mastering suites.

Fremer reported that even the LP version of the Exile on Main St remaster was louder than hell.
