"Tony, do you know any free file sharing services that allow you to upload LARGE files to share. I use www.mediafire.com, which is great, but they limit you to files of around 200MB."
I have had bad results with free file services. A friend sent me some files using one of them (I don't recall which one) and I used it to download the material. Unfortunately, the page had an advertisement that looked remarkably similar to the "download" button and in a hurry I clicked on it and instantly saw my computer infected with adware or worse, as I had stupidly been running that particular machine unprotected. I have since instituted a "defense in depth" approach, which among other things involves not using questionable "free" services.
I have a computer in my office that has a web server and a file server and I can give people accounts on the file server and they can exchange material via FTP. However, my upload speed is limited, so if I want to send a large file to someone out of courtesy I usually upload them to a commercial web server and send them an email after the upload has been completed. It is possible to get accounts for well under $10.00 a month. When there was too much traffic to my wife's piano recordings I moved them to a server with a fast network account. (Usually these are located near major Internet exchanges and they have little bandwidth cost getting to the backbone.)
