Because it's the "in thing" right now..........
And if one has the patience to rip hundreds of albums, it becomes a lot more convenient than fishing for CDs and/or LPs........
But of course, one has to hold his breath in finding out whether the undertaking is or isn't a sonic improvement, and/or a more-enjoyable experience.
