Most audiophiles are just clueless about the future.
I am talking about HDD playback, and no one said anything about using the cdrom drive in a computer!
Fans are not needed in an audio computer, and you really can get the computer down to only audio related things.
FWIW the Logitech stuff is a computer IMHO running linux IIRC. You could easily make your own or buy the pre-made one.
The real advantage is not messing with disks and realtime reads.
And from reports at ces, something like 80% of those audiophile rooms had some kind of computer source, so I think that audiophiles are slowly getting up to speed.
here is a test for you. Find a dac that is sold brand new that doesnt have a usb connection. Find one that was launched this year without one. Now look at the cd players launched this year, and the number of transports, and the number of servers.
The writing is on the wall whether you guys believe it or not.
And IMHO alot of the trend is that the computer route is not a sound compromise and the convenience is more, after ripping, it is just a no brainer.
