...technology advances rather quickly and there are more moving parts that can fail (vs speakers or an amp). Seems I always eventually found out why someone was selling a used cdp; although, the reason did not always surface right away. The exception was one from someone I knew who was clearly doing an upgrade from a model still available in the new market.

Some of the new $100 - $200 players sound much better than many of the much more expensive units that are only five years old or less, in some cases.
