Home Digital Drive

Upsamplers, DACs, jitter, shakes and analogue withdrawals, this is it.

Solution: invest 1/3 as much attention to CD setup as vinyl...

In my limited experience, there is about a 3:1 ratio of money and effort required to make vinyl sound as good as Redbook CD playback. You cannot simply buy a CD player, plug it in, and enjoy the best sound it has to offer, no more than you can buy a turntable, plug it in, and get the best out of it.

The marketing for CDs mislead generations of users to think the playback setup is effortless. It is, but only if you are content with Bose-level performance.

To get the full benefit of what you have, attend to the AC noise, the cables, and the vibration isolation.
