My Rotel RCD-1070, the previous model, has absolutely no problem with any CDR I throw at it. I haven't tried a CD-RW, but I have no interest in RW's. It also plays CD's that cause others to skip. Maybe the 1072 uses a different transport? I know the 1070 uses a Sony. My older Rotel, 865bx, used a Phillips and skipped on the slightest blemish.
