External DAC or CDplayer/receiver?

I am trying to figure out the best set up for the redbook CDs. I currently have Kenwood DV5700 DVD/DVD-Audio player hooked up through toslink to Marantz SR8300, which I use to power Monitor Silver speakers. I wanted to get SACD capability and maybe inprove CD playback, so I got Sony new CD/SACD player SCD-CE595, which is currently hooked up through analog outputs to the Marantz. I should say I like this etup more than Kenwood/Marantz one. However, reading a lot of good reviews on extenal DACs and seeing few ART DIOs on sale for 100-150$ made me wonder if getting CD player was a reasonable thing to do. I do not have any SACD and probably can live without it for right now. How would CD playback of 150$ CD player with 192/24 DAC or Marantz compare to the output of ART DIO? Would it make more sense to return Sony and hook up Kenwood thorugh ART DIO into Marantz for CD playback?
