Biencfg,
I was under that impression too but the Marantz will output DVD-A at 24/96 and my Chord DAC64 loves it. I played at least 8 dvd-a last nite and all of them played. Unfortunately they are inconsistent in their authoring and set-up.Peter,
Thanks for taking the time to comment. All of my comparisons are by recollection. In some cases with vinyl it has been years but basically in the same system.
IMO dvd-a classics (fleetwood Mac, Band Grateful Dead)etc, thru my dac sound better/or as least as good as vinyl without the hassle of vinyl. Tube amps with vinyl is noisy. Dvd-a with tube amps is not.
There is no way any vinyl edition of Workingmans Dead sound better than the dvd-a version in 2 channel thru a good 24/96 dac in a quality setup. (The one disclaimer might be a real expensive vinyl rig. Mine is only a Sota star sapphire, Alphason ta, nos Sumiko mc)
I appreciate your argument. CDs using my upsampled Marantz as a transport are arguably as good as ther SACD counterparts. But neither can match a good dvd-a thru a good 24/96 dac.( I cannot comment on the expensive sacd players.)
