But are the inaccuracies introduced by the analogue to digital conversion necessarily more offensive to the ear than the many distortion artefacts associated with LP playback? Of course, an LP carries a lot more data than the equivalent CD but it seems to me that the recorded signal is more readily corrupted by a record player than a CD player (assuming the latter has no digital filter!).
For starters, I don't know of too many well-engineered (and affordable) linear-tracking tonearms.
