I have the DR6000 and can confirm its solid performance both as a recorder (D & A) and a player (see reviews in Hi-Fi Choice)However, I and others on this forum (do a search on DR6000) had horrible experiences with reliability and service.
I bought a refurbished unit from A4less which turned out to be defective. After 4 months, Marantz sent me another B stock unit as replacement which didn't work either. After another 2 months they sent me a brand new machine, which lasted 6 months and then went on the blink. In the meantime, the 1-year warranty expired and I've junked this lemon, at a loss of $400 overall.
I would say buying one is a crap game, especially the recent batches. Note that Marantz tried to get me to accept another model in exchange. That should have told me something...
Regards,
og
