I have the DR4050 & the DR-17 reference recorder which betters the 6000. There IS a difference with the 4050 for convenience issues even after burning a cd-r/w in digital which is then protected by SCMS the 4050 will make an analog clone of it & not miss a track marker to boot. The 6000 & many others will say can not copy..etc. The DR-17 though is a far better playback deck than the 4050 which really shouldn't be used as such...........The only thing missing on both decks which my Elite recorder has is L & R independent level controls for tweakers & alike........
