Re: Where to buy Marantz CD 6000?

You can get virtually the same sound (according to reviews in HiFi Choice) from the Marantz DR6000 recorder/player, which I have. It's available (refurbished) for less than $300 at accessories4less.com. Being a dual-function component, it's considerably slower and clunkier in reading discs upon load-up, but sounds very good -- smooth, dynamic and with a big, open soundstange. It makes superb copies of CDs, BTW.

The real problem is the reliability of this product and the abysmal service/support from Marantz. It took SIX months and two replacement units for me to finally get something functional. And even then, after another 6 months in use the brand new unit they gave me developed intermittent laser-assembly problems.

Now I'm using a professional M-Audio SuperDac 2496 ($219 shipped.) Great un-digital sound and a LIFETIME guarantee.

Regards,
og
