Marantz is 2x the cost of the Sony SCD-1 street price. My opinion is that the Marantz sounds a bit pinched in comparison and is not as "open" for CD performance compared to the SCD-1. I do find it an improvement over the 777ES. But the SCD-1 seems to be the best SACD player out there unless you consider Accuphase.
