I took no offense. You seemed to be touting the Marantz as better than the Arcam without saying (a) which Marantz model you're referring to and (b) WHY the Marantz would be better. My apologies if I misconstrued your posts.

I have listened to an older Marantz only (CD63se or 67). The bass did not seem as deep and clear as the Arcam. I know that some find the midrange to be good with the Marantz, but I actually had the opposite impression. Marantz has a great reputation. A colleague of mine has Marantz, Linn, and CAL cd players (he's a pack rat!). They all have merits.

A lot of it comes down to system matching. The Arcam/Plinius combination is fantastic, in my opinion. I have since found out from the US Plinius distributor, that he also likes this combo.
