Yes, I did try a Marantz cdp. I'm afraid I don't remember which one, as it was on loan from a friend. I did like it, but it was a model that was no longer available. I actually thought it similar in sound and peformance to the NAD 541i, which I didn't mention in my "review." I actually think that the 541i is an under-rated player, so comparing to the Marantz (at least the one I had for a couple of weeks) is not meant to be disparaging!
