You could always look for an original Rega Planet. They are not the last word in detail, but they are very musical with a nice deep soundstage. The Marantz CD17 and 6000ose are both quite good and go for very little moeny on Audiogon. The Marantz players are more detailed than the planet but don't look as cool and don't make that cool beep sound when discs initialize. The 6000 and CD17mk2 have the transport that will play anything including CD-RW disc and CD text. You may also like the Cambridge D500SE, but I compared it with the Planet and did not like it as much. More detail, more treble, flatter soundstage, and in the end not as musical to me as the Planet or the Marantz. It also would freak out my tuner sometimes by creating a FM signal at 91.1. I don't know why, but it did this on a couple of tuners and recievers.
