Almost forgot about the cheapest valve-output Heart (modified Marantz) which could be had for under $500 (?).If the Heart is still out of reach the best Marantz that can be afforded would be my choice - as suggested further down this thread, the Marantz CD63 KI Signature would be an excellent choice used and I owned this myself for a couple of years.
