Home Digital Drive

Upsamplers, DACs, jitter, shakes and analogue withdrawals, this is it.

Skipping: "right out of the box" or develops over time?

OK, I'm very seriously considering the NAD C540. The question is this: "For the most part, is skipping seen right away, or does it usually take months or years to develop?" Specifically, if I take a new C540 home on audition and that player doesn't skip, what's the liklihood that that particular C540 won't start to skip later (assuming that I don't bang it around)?

I know that there are no guarantees, I'm just wondering how much "good out of the box" means for a particular player.

Thanks.
