I had a chance to audition a Marantz 67, an Arcam Alpha and the Rega and to my ears there wasn't one which was clearly the best, so much as three different (relatively!) sounding CD players.None of which I fell in love with.
If you don't like the Marantz and want something different, well, the Rega is different. If you like the Marantz's presentation, and are looking to upgrade along the same lines, I'd recommend steering clear of the Rega.
In either case, in an ideal world I'd settle in with the other new components first, get as clear an idea as you can on what you like and dislike, find the tracks you listen to which most clearly exemplify these likes and dislikes and then go shopping.
Good deals on CD players won't be going away anytime soon.
