I will soon be moving house offering more rooms and internal floor space and as such, am considering introducing a second CD player into one of the extra rooms. My budget is limited (300 GBP) and one option I am considering is the purchase of a new Marantz CD6000SE. However, my local HiFi store has a second hand Sony CDP302ES selling for 85 GBP, which shoulkd I choose? Both machines have some weight to them and the Sony has an internal copper base with 2 seemingly large capacitors (I already own a CDP302ES). Presumably the Marantz offers the latest developments in CD technology and without a listening test beforehand, i'm told will offer sonic improvements over the Sony. I like the build quality on both machines but is the Sony getting a little long in the tooth? I bought mine ex-demonstration about 4 or 5 years ago. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
