Re: Could Any Njoe Tjeob owners.....

I have not owned the Tjoeb 99 but I compared my Njoe Tjoeb to a Tjoeb 99 owned by a pal and I think the Njoe Tjoeb is clearly superior.

Smoother and more analogue like, large soundstage with better instrument placement, better midrange and highs for sure, less strained at higher volume levels, conveys more dynamic swing, which I think is related to fewer compressive effects. Extremely "real" sounding for the money, and better than a few much more expensive players I have compared it to.

The only problem I have with the build quality is the Marantz case which is very flimsy, I made this a lot better by mixing up 3 kilos of lead shot and liquid nails and gooping the inside of said case. I also replaced the generic A/C cord with one of Doc. B's braided power cord recipe type.

The quality of the AH! work inside is very high and one of the great things is that there is plenty of room to work inside, kind of like Hafler gear space wise.

The latest mod. I have done is to replace the output capacitors with Hovlands' and it makes a very noticible difference although I got an e-mail from a fellow who compared the Auricaps to the Hovlands' and he says that there is no difference in the sound of the two and the Auricaps are half the price of the Hovlands'.

I can't recommend the Njoe Tjoeb highly enough and everyone I play it for is gob-smacked when I tell then how much it costs. A great deal.

Regards.
