Home Digital Drive

Upsamplers, DACs, jitter, shakes and analogue withdrawals, this is it.

I had a Stable Platter Pioneer player

PD-9700. I loved that device. Made for a fine player (impressive high frequency delivery - nice and crisp), and an even better transport. It died on me several years into owning it (I bought it in 1991) and I replaced it with a variety of other players - the best of which were Denon's DCD-1650AR, and in particular, Philips SACD-1000, which was very godd as an SACD player, but glorious with redbook.
I miss my 9700 sometimes though - occasionally I would reach for a CD which was still upside-down in it's case! Made me a bit sad.

I don't use a CD player currently, thanks to a Squeezebox Touch and a TDM-1704 DAC from Lite Audio. Lovely sound. LP takes center stage when I want to the best sound of course.
I have a heavily modded Marantz CD-63SE in it's box in the garage. I sold most of my CDs once I had them dumped them onto three different hard drives (can't be too careful..).
