RE: Cheap CD Player needed: Marantz or NAD or ?

marantz CD5004 uses a Sanyo SF-P101n, same as many ($$$$$) Cambridge Audio players. Historically, Marantz has used mostly Philips with a smattering of others…..

The NAD? NAD is all over the map on transport usage. I think they simply go by price. Over the years they've used many Sanyo AND Sony transports with a smattering of Toshiba and Philips for good measure.

It uses a Sony KSS-213c

I have NO idea which is mechanically more reliable.
Personally? I'd go for a player with one of the Philips 'pro' transports…...
