universal player or dedicated SACD/CD player?

Hi I'm hoping some of you knowledgeable chaps can give me some advice.

I'm a vinyl man but getting poorly pressed albums or over valued albums from ebay is getting on my nerves.

I've got a CD63se which is still working over 20 years after buying it but I've often thought about getting a streamer or sacd player. the more I read about streaming the more it puts me off. trouble with software, putting the music on a PC or drive etc.

I know SACDs and CDs are becoming harder to find but i noticed you can still get them for a reasonable price.

I like the idea of just buying them and putting them in the player without any fuss, but also getting a sound quality which is almost as good as vinyl, without worrying about clicks, pops or noise.

My question is should I get a dedicated SACD/CD player or a universal player which would allow me to stream if and when CD/SACD stop being made?

Can a universal player compete with a dedicated SACD/Player?

My budget would be an absolute maximum would be £1000, but would prefer to pay as little as possible really.

Would paying £1000 on a universal player get me a much better sound than a dedicated player for around £500?

Someone told me a few years ago that I'd have to spend over £1000 to get a better sound than the 63se as digital hadn't advanced much and the DAC in the marantz was a good one.

I just want the best sound quality I can get so using a USB etc isn't the main concern.

Thanks if anyone can give me some advice,

Mick
