If you are using a computer with a PCI slot, I suggest you take a look at the Lynx L22 pro sound card. There have been a lot of posts on it in the Computer Audio Asylum. You want to use the analog out, of course. Some use it for SPDIF. At least one user said that it was very similar in sound to the Benchmark. It is also cheaper at $675, and will allow you to make excellent recordings if you want to archive vinyl or put SACD's in your server.
I had both the DAC3 and the Lynx L22 in my home for about two weeks for a shoot out. They were close, but the Lynx won. I thought it was slightly more resolving and more "real" than the Bel Canto. The Lynx has an excellant S/N ratio that lets you hear very deep into the music. The Bel Canto was excellent but had a dry sound to my ears, and went back.
