FWIW, I use a Marantz CDR-632 as a stand alone recorder for digitizing my analog source material, so I can listen on the go. I've been using it moderately often since I bought it a little over two years ago, without a single hiccup. The recordings it makes seem true to the source. That said, the tray is kind of flimsy and wiggles when it opens and closes. It is, however, fairly quiet, and responds well to the remote. Being a recorder, it does take a little longer to load a CD than my regular player, a Rotel RCD-02. As a player (using each one's internal DAC), the Rotel is superior to the Marantz, IMHO.
I intend to upgrade my digital front end. I am open to a one-box player or a DAC. If I go with the DAC, I will try it with both the Rotel and the Marantz, and sell the Rotel if the Marantz is as good or better than the Rotel as a transport only.
