RE: Professional CD Player as CD Transport?

I use a Denon DN-c680 as a transport. It is a very solid tray loading studio and broadcast player (with a ton of features I never use.) They list for $1,000, but I bought a used one ePay for $66. As a pro unit, it has both XLR (AES/EBU) and rca (S/PDIF coax) digital outputs, as well balanced and unbalanced analog outputs. I have no experience with the slot loading machines, but I'd like to get one of the half-rack wide players (Sony, Denon, or Tascam) that are (were?) the standard ones used in top-flight radio studios, since space is a premium for me. Unfortunately new ones are expensive, and most used ones have seen very heavy use.
