Upsamplers, DACs, jitter, shakes and analogue withdrawals, this is it.

Go for Marantz...

I would consider one of the latest Marantz players, whichever one fits your budget.

The "top of the line" is the SA-7S1, second is the SA-11S2, then the (recently discontinued but worth seeking out) SA-11S1, and below that the current SA-8001 and its predecessor, the Stereophile Class A rated SA-8260.

I own an SA-11S1, and use it with my McCormack (Revision A Gold) DNA-1 amp. Although I use a conrad-johnson tube preamp and Vandersteen speakers (which do not emphasize "detail"), I was never able to relax when listening to digital until I bought my SA-11S1. It completely eliminates that edgy, irritating upper midrange emphasis that always bothered me!!

Search through these forums (especially Digital - SACD, "Hi-Rez Highway") to see what people are saying about the Marantz players. Many owners feel that the various Marantz players are very good at making digital listenable without decreasing audible detail.
