The 80 min CDrs are whats called an "overburn" Cdr , the standard is 74 mins , some CDps and CD burners cant "overburn" (IE burn beyond the specs)
IF your CD recorder can do 80 mins , it should do fine on 74 mins.
Try other brands on it , it might just not like the Kodaks (which is odd). Generally once you find a media that works well , try stick to it.
Try the manual finalisation as well.
