What has been your experience with cheap outboard DACs versus the onboard DACs of mid-90s mid-fi CDPs (i.e. Rotel, NAD, etc.)? Is it too much of a generalization to say that a newer DAC, even if it is inexpensive, would sound better than the DAC of a 10 year old player?
I'm talking about CHEAP DACs (i.e. Audio Alchemy DITB, AH DAC Lite, etc.).
Just looking for thoughts...
Thanks,
ChrisFWIW, my player is a Rotel RCD-970bx, made in 1996.
