Upsamplers, DACs, jitter, shakes and analogue withdrawals, this is it.

Re: what is a step up from 12 year old cdp?

I have Pioneer DV45A and a Denon DV-2200..both uni-players
at the $5-600 level new. The DV45A will do a decent job
on SACD and DVD A, but will not sound much better on CD than
what you already have....IMHO. I use a MF A3 for redbook CD.
At the $500 level, I would simply buy a good used CD player
like a MF A3, Rega, Music Hall, Cambridge Audio, Jolida,
Arcam, NAD, or a AH! Njoe. To get good redbook playback on a uni
player, you will probably have spend over $1K IMHO.

Good luck,

Bill
