Upsamplers, DACs, jitter, shakes and analogue withdrawals, this is it.

Slight disappointment with X26 Pro

Well, well well. The X26 Pro arrived yesterday.
So far, I'm not in love (yet?).
I was expecting to be blown away but I am not.
I probably have more fine tuning to do, but coming from the A18 the X26 Pro feels a little bit unrefined in the highs.

A few observations:

- it doesn't like to be plugged in a filtered power strip (reduced dynamics) - the A18 LOVED to be on that filtered power strip

- I keep going back and forth between the various filters (on A18, fast/sharp had my immediate preference) vivid seems too bright and slightly untidy, with reduced depth - gentle sounds more coherent and has more depth but slightly too dull for some music - composite is ? I cannot really decide on that one. I wish there was one filter that does it all, changing settings from record to record seems like a PITA.

- the coax SPDIF input, which is the one I've been using so far with my Audiolab 6000CDT transport, doesn't seem to benefit from the iFi Audio SPDIF purifier 2 (that is not a bad thing). My previous DACs did.

The X26 Pro is a second hand dAC and is fully burned in, of course.
I will try experimenting with power cables and decoupling footers. t also sill has the stock fuse, the A18 has an upgraded Gustard fuse.

I'm not giving up until I've tried everything. I'm just not "wowed" so far.
