Dan provides a useful service

Yes, perhaps he only "swaps components", although I'm not sure that is true, of whether it even matters if it is true. I think he may even have posted his "recipe" for these component swaps last year, before he was doing it as a paid service.

I could do these upgrades myself; I built my share of Eico kits and Heathkits back in the mid-1960's.

But, these days I don't see so well as I did 35 years ago. I have always been a bit ham-handed, but with audiophile gear my ham-handedness has a much higher possible cost than it did with an Eico VTVM. And, I don't really have the time these days to find suppliers to get all the right components in small quantities.

Since Dan's mods really make things sound better (or, at least, I have convinced myself that they do, as have a few other people), then it's a useful service and I'm glad that this board helped connect me to it.
