Re: Question for Steve about the 1.1

Stock, the AN DAC 1.1 is a steal at US$699.

The sonics are a tilted bit toward the "vintage tube" side of the street. Not at all bad, but not at all "accurate" in the audiophile sense, fortunately.

Stock, the AN DAC 1.1 has a midrange to die for. Tweeks (properly done) expand the magic to the outer octaves. But even stock, the DAC 1.1 has about the most un-digital high frequecies that I have heard from CD.

Be forewarned, the DAC 1.1 has a highish (6-7K) output impedance, and requires a high load (100K+). Passive attenuators should not apply.

Do a search on the Audio Note DAC 1.1 on the AA main page. There are lotsa posts and reviews. Don't miss Steven Rochlin's at Enjoy The Music or Werner's (sorry I forgot his last name!) at TNT.
