Bel Canto kills the 3950, big time, imagine that. More detail, no rolled top and more bottom.I'm using the 3950 as a transport, strange thing though, you have to setup the 3950 properly for transport use. Hook the thing up to your TV, go to the setup menu, change it to PCM mode, turn off PCM downsampling , AND turn off dynamic range control!! Super important.. otherwise the toshibas craps out the DAC and makes it sound EXACTLY like the 3950 audio outputs.
Makes a pretty decent transport though.. standalone it ain't so bad for $60.. way better than the DI/O ;)
