I have a modified Samsung HD841 and a non-modified Toshiba 4960. Neither of the units have exhibited the problem you specified. The 4960 is more than a year old and the HD841 is about 9 months old.I have used the HD841 exclusively for the last six months experiencing no problems. The 4960 is switched into the system from time to time to perform an A/B test.
