The Oppo has a more open sound with plenty of 'boogie'. The Toshiba is likely to tame things a little, which might be useful if you have bright speakers or if you amp has a forward presentation.
I have a 970 and it does remakably well for the money and sounds quite sophisticated. The Toshiba is no slouch either.
What amp and speakers do you have?
