Thanks for the suggestion, I was thinking of this earlier. As I have the JISCO option in my Altmann DAC and I am using an external clock generator for the Firewire - SPDIF conversion, I did not feel a need to get higher - end FW-SPDIF conversion. The external clock made a big difference and cleaned up the sound quite considerably.
