From the several marnatz cdp I heard, I believe marantz have got their own pecular house sound. Some exhibit more (mainly lower end model) while some less so (higher end model, leaning toward neutral). Some people, myself included, absolutely falls in love with it. So much so that I would even forgo other high-end cdp that doesn't exhibit that house sound. Guess you are one of them.
