They are technically correct, there is no difference in the TYPES of components in the two paths, but there are two sets of components, one with significant trace capacitance to the volume control, and the other with very short paths to the 1-turn trimmers. This is the difference. There are two sets of op-amps involved. One is used for volume control and the other for the trimmers, not both.
