I'm no expert but it seems that, in common usage, a stepped attenuator is a volume control composed of discrete electro-mechanical switches. Looking at the innards of my current-production DAC1, I see no evidence of such a creature. I assumed that the VC is a pot - with click stops to allow for greater precision in studio work.Clarification anyone?
