I have the low output impedance version and contrary to my expectations I do find the "direct" out better. I don't use a preamp but rather control the volume from my Tact 2.0s. If there is indeed a difference in the circuit (vs the volume contol path) that would explain much. My only question would then be: is the direct output buffered?
