Home Digital Drive

Upsamplers, DACs, jitter, shakes and analogue withdrawals, this is it.

RE: The USB cable is on the DAC's INPUT....

First, if there is RF noise in the USB data or even power wires, that can be measured and quantified.

If the noise is causing clock jitter that too can be corelated.

If the noise is making it's way to the analog section, that too can be measured and quantified.

Now I realize the home audio experimenter with a used Heathkit scope probably isn't going to be able to do these tests with any degree of accuracy. But with standard lab grade equipment, all these parameters can be measured and quantified.

This is standard practice in the electronics industry at large. Only when we get into consumer foo foo audio does this become complex voodoo that nobody can measure.
