RE: DAC for Red Book CD's

When I went out looking for a DAC,one of the persons (in the industry) said to me "If you want tubes, then AN.If solidstate ,than the option is Blue Circle.
I bought the BC 509 entry unit.It lasted until I invested about $15K on pre/power.Then went upstream.
The BC 507 are listing at about $1100 +/_.I would think that this unit might keep you for quite a while. It has a better PS ,than the 509 (which was no slouch and musical in spades).
Good luck in your search.
