Home Digital Drive

Upsamplers, DACs, jitter, shakes and analogue withdrawals, this is it.

Re: Upsampling and digititus

"Does moving from a 24\96 setup to 24\192 automatically reduce digital glare and smooth out the sound?"

If anything, it will *increase* listener fatigue because RFI transmission is increased at 192 kHz relative to 96. Otherwise, the sonic difference should be virtually unnoticeable.

"Do tubed cd players or dac's universally lack bass extension and response as compared to a solid state player?"

It's more the implementation than the device type.

The best way to reduce "digititis" is to isolate RFI generation from the system. I generally use isolation transformers to mains power of the digital rig. An isolation audio transformer (Jensen IsoMax) between DAC and preamp cannot hurt either.
