Yes, I am aware of the phase discrepancies introduced by filtering. I guess this also leads to an 'uncomfortable' sound. I also think there are two camps when it comes to solving this issue - filterless camp and the upsampling camp. Based on my experience with the Philips 963SA I am not that fond of upsampling. But probably I should try it with different products.
Anyways, right now, my transport is directly going into a digital amplifier receiver. How does the low-pass filter + PWM processing in the amp compare to the filter in a DAC ?
