Upsamplers, DACs, jitter, shakes and analogue withdrawals, this is it.

Re: dCS combo without Purcell

I find the dcs Elgar with upsampling via Purcel provides a more analog, or easy flowing quality. The slight harshness in the treble registers disappear with upsampling. The sound seems to evolve and decay in a more organic way with upsampling. Perhaps there is a small loss of vividness up the Purcel but, when listening hours on end the upsampling just seems to be easier to listen to. I don't think it imparts a "slowness" to the sound though I can see how this comment would be made. I really don't think the upsampling takes away any of the "palpable" soundstage either.

There is not a perfect dac so I guess one could say that the dcs rig with upsampling is less evil than without(in my opinion of course).
